Our Organic Cotton

At Teevolution, we take cotton seriously – without taking ourselves too seriously! Our organic cotton tees come from cotton farms that do things a little differently, leaving behind harmful pesticides and fertilizers in favor of natural solutions. Think bug-friendly insect traps, clever crop pairings, and the trusty power of cow dung (yes, really!) to boost biodiversity.

These practices don’t just help the planet; they make for tees that are exceptionally soft and uniquely comfy. Our cotton is grown in the lush, monsoon-fed fields of Northern India, where nature does most of the watering – so we’re saving water, one raindrop at a time. Cotton Processing

We like to say that every thread has a story. Our organic cotton journey starts in fields where cotton blooms like fluffy clouds from hardy plants. These cotton bolls are carefully harvested – by camel or truck, depending on the landscape – and taken to ginning plants. Here, each cotton fiber is separated from the seeds, creating a soft, pure cotton ready for spinning, while the byproducts don’t go to waste.

Those leftover seeds? They’re turned into nutrient-rich feed for organic livestock and pressed for oil used in foods. And thanks to fair-trade practices, our farmers receive a stable, government-guaranteed price, with premium batches fetching a bit extra as processors compete for top quality. This process doesn’t just make for amazing tees – it supports a sustainable cycle where every part of the plant finds a purpose, and everyone involved is fairly rewarded.

Closed Loop Water

At Teevolution, we’re serious about reducing our impact on the planet – even down to the way we handle water. The dyeing process in the clothing industry often produces harmful wastewater, but our suppliers take a different approach. In our production, water used for dyeing is recovered, purified, and recirculated.

Here’s how it works: after dyeing, the water goes through a process where impurities settle out, and surface oils are skimmed. Next, they use cutting-edge filtration – think of it as pulling water through incredibly fine sand repeatedly – followed by a distillation process, which boils and purifies the water. This advanced system (reverse osmosis and distillation) removes almost all impurities. Once it’s purified, they add salt to help dyes adhere in future cycles, and any leftover material from the process is repurposed for eco-friendly road markings.

The best part? About 95% of this water is recirculated – a near-closed loop that allows us to use it batch after batch. By the time this purified water is ready to be reused, it’s crystal clear – as clean as drinking water. With each cycle, we’re committed to saving water and reducing waste because, at Teevolution, eco-friendly isn’t just a tagline; it’s how we operate.

Our Manchester office is powered by renewable energy, whilst across our supply chain, we’re also powered by renewable energy because, like you, we think the planet deserves a break. Our UK suppliers manufacturing hums along thanks to solar power, and the overseas manufacturing tap into wind farms and a robust 150kw solar array to keep things running clean and smooth.

But here’s the clever bit: they have got a smart, demand-driven system that activates our equipment only when we need it and when the sun’s shining or the wind’s blowing, helping them to optimize energy usage without a fuss. This means more reliability, less cost, and a factory as dynamic as our designs.
