Goodwood FOS 2021
July 2021 brings the return of events, one of the first large events to take place is the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Set in the 12,000 acre home of the Duke of Richmond Lord March the Goodwood estate hosts the Goodwood Festival of Speed which has been an annual haven to all pistonheads since 1993.
The festival attracts 150,000 motorsport fans each year all hoping for the chance to visit the main paddock to get close up to well known Formula One race drivers and rally drivers, vintage or historic race cars and modern super/hyper cars and is seen by collectors, manufacturers and motorsport teams as the flagship event to showcase both new and historic cars and motorcycles.
Focussed around the spectacular central display which each year celebrates a different motor milestone, the festival's main event is the 1.16 mile Hillclimb. The hillclimb sees motorsport heroes both past and present pilot a variety of historic race cars and supercars up the 1890 metre track either in exhibition mode or as fast as possible culminating in the Sunday shootout.
A longstanding Shootout record holder being ex Formula One driver Nick Heidfeld who in 1999 blitzed the hill in a McLaren MP4/13, the 20 year old record was recently annihilated by endurance racing specialist Romain Dumas in the all electric powered Volkswagen IDR Pikes Peak beating the German Formula One drivers record.
The 2021 Festival of Speed return is premiering numerous new models of vehicles, some of our hotly anticipated entries hitting the hill climb are these.
